Introduction / overview

The Crore to Million Converter switches any number between crore and million — the large-number unit of the Indian numbering system and its international counterpart. Type a value into either field and the other updates instantly; there is nothing to press and no direction to choose.

If a property is listed at “₹5 crore” and a buyer asks for the figure in millions, or a press release quotes revenue in “millions” that you need in crores for an Indian audience, this tool gives you the exact equivalent in a second.

One crore is exactly ten million. Since1 crore=1071\ \mathrm{crore} = 10^7 and1 million=1061\ \mathrm{million} = 10^6, the conversion between them is exact — no rounding, no estimates.

Who is this for?

  • Anyone working with money or figures in South Asia — salaries, property prices, film budgets and company revenue are routinely quoted in crores, while international reports use millions.
  • Analysts, journalists and students who move between Indian and international sources and need a reliable bridge between the two.
  • Anyone who wants to double-check a big number from the news before repeating it.

How to use / quick start

  1. 1Type the figure you have into the Crore(s) or Million(s) field. The other field fills in automatically — no button to press.
  2. 2Read the converted value — it appears in blue, meaning it was calculated from the number you entered.
  3. 3Flip directions any time by typing into the other field. Started with millions but your source uses crores? Just edit the Crore(s) field and the million value updates to match.

Worked example — 2.5 crore in millions

Enter 2.52.5 in the Crore(s) field. The Million(s) field shows2525, because:

MmillionM_{\mathrm{million}}==2.5×102.5 \times 10==2525

So 2.5 crore = 25 million. Typing a decimal or a very large number works the same way — the conversion stays exact.

Real-world examples

Example 1 — a property price in crores, quoted in millions

An apartment listing reads “₹5 crore”, but your international buyer works in millions. Enter 55 in the Crore(s) field:

MmillionM_{\mathrm{million}}==5×105 \times 10==5050

The Million(s) field shows 50 — so ₹5 crore is 50 million.

Example 2 — a box-office figure in millions, reported in crores

A film grosses “112 million” worldwide, and the Indian press wants the same figure in crores. Enter 112112 in the Million(s) field:

CcroreC_{\mathrm{crore}}==11210\frac{112}{10}==11.211.2

The Crore(s) field shows 11.2 — so 112 million is 11.2 crore.

Calculation method

One million is a thousand thousand, and one crore is ten million. The converter uses this single ratio in two directions:

MmillionM_{\mathrm{million}}==Ccrore×10C_{\mathrm{crore}} \times 10·CcroreC_{\mathrm{crore}}==Mmillion10\frac{M_{\mathrm{million}}}{10}

Why the factor is 10

A crore is the seventh power of ten and a million the sixth:

1 crore1\ \mathrm{crore}==10710^7·1 million1\ \mathrm{million}==10610^6

Because 107÷106=101=1010^7 \div 10^6 = 10^1 = 10, one crore is ten million. The same logic runs the other way: dividing any number of millions by 10 gives its value in crores.

NameValueZerosPower of ten
Lakh100,000510⁵
Million1,000,000610⁶
Crore10,000,000710⁷
1 crore (= 10 million)10,000,000710⁷

Because both directions come from the same fixed definition, the conversion never rounds — whether you type a decimal, a negative value, or a number with many digits, the other field matches it exactly.

Related concepts

Crore and million belong to two ways of naming the same large numbers. The international (short-scale) system counts by thousands and then millions, while the Indian system uses lakh and crore:

International (short-scale) system

Counts ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, then millions, billions, trillions — and groups digits in threes: 1,000,000.

Indian numbering system

Counts ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, then lakhs, crores — and groups the first three digits, then by twos: 1,00,00,000.

The crore–million bridge

Because one crore is 100 lakh and one million is 10 lakh, a crore also equals ten million:

1 crore1\ \mathrm{crore}==100 lakh100\ \mathrm{lakh}==10 million10\ \mathrm{million}

So a figure like 1,50,00,0001{,}50{,}00{,}000 is read as 1.5 crore; written internationally it is 15,000,00015{,}000{,}000 — the same number, grouped differently.

The Indian numbering system is the official standard in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, and lakh is widely understood across the wider region. See the Indian numbering system reference for the full place-value table and how the two systems group digits.

Need the same amount in lakhs instead?

Crore sits above lakh in the Indian system (1 crore=100 lakh1\ \mathrm{crore} = 100\ \mathrm{lakh}). If you would rather express a crore figure in the Indian-system unit, the Crore to Lakh Converter does that conversion in both directions.

FAQs

How many millions are in 1 crore?

Ten. Since 1 crore=1071\ \mathrm{crore} = 10^7 and1 million=1061\ \mathrm{million} = 10^6, dividing the powers of ten gives 107÷106=1010^7 \div 10^6 = 10 — one crore is exactly 10 million.

How many zeros does one crore have?

Seven. Written with Indian grouping it looks like 1,00,00,0001{,}00{,}00{,}000; written with standard grouping it is 10,000,00010{,}000{,}000.

Is crore the same as ten million?

Yes. 1 crore=10,000,0001\ \mathrm{crore} = 10{,}000{,}000 — crore is simply the Indian-system name for ten million. They represent the same number in different place-value systems.

Limitations & disclaimers

A conversion tool, not a data source

This converter only rescales a number. It does not convert currency or exchange rates, and it adds no information about whatever the number represents — a salary, a price, or a statistic stays just a number.

Standard digit grouping

Values are shown with standard thousands separators, such as 1,234,567. In everyday Indian writing the same figure is often grouped as 12,34,567; the number itself is identical either way.

Exact results

Because 1 crore = 10 million is a fixed definition, results are exact and never rounded — whether you enter a decimal, a negative value, or a number with many digits.
