Example: rectangular front lawn
Suppose your front lawn is a rectangle measuring 12 meters wide by 8 meters long, and you are using a grass seed with a coverage rate of 3.5 kg/1000 m².
You would need about 0.34 kg of seed. Since grass seed is often sold in 1 kg bags, a single bag would be more than enough for this lawn, with some left over for patch repairs.

New lawn from scratch
Starting a new lawn requires the highest seed density. Enter your lawn's full area and use the "new lawn" coverage rate from your seed package. For most grass types, this is roughly double the overseeding rate.

Overseeding an existing lawn
